Australian Made Campaign welcomes two new staff members appointed to help grow the Australian Made, Australian Grown logo; Sophie Burge and Hein Ling.
Hailing from a family farm in Deniliquin – a town based in the New South Wales southern Riverina region – Sophie is Australia Made’s newest Media Communications Officer.
Sophie brings extensive knowledge and experience in community and political journalism, events, agriculture and hospitality. Having worked for McPherson Media Group as a journalist for three years, she has a Bachelor of Professional Communications (RMIT) and a journalism cadetship under her belt. Sophie has a deep passion for local communities, agriculture and small business, and how its people help form the backbone of Australia’s economy. When she’s not enjoying Melbourne hotspots or gardening, Sophie loves weekends away at her family’s farm or going camping and bushwalking.
Meanwhile, having worked for eight years as a pharmacist manager, Hein brings expertise in community and retail pharmacy. His experience as a pharmacist makes him an ideal Project Officer for the Campaign’s complementary health review project, read more.
Born in Burma, Hein moved to NSW country city, Wagga Wagga as a teenager. Apart from his recent experience managing an aged care pharmacy operation, implementing new policy and process improvements, the Mandarin and English speaking recruit also had two years experience in New York as a consultant in pharmacy benefit management.
Having gained a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Charles Sturt University) and a Master of Business Administration from RMIT, Hein’s passion’s are to combine his business acumen with expertise in healthcare and pharma industry and how collectively, the combination can bring about affordable and cost saving treatments. In his spare time, Hein enjoys soccer, photography, and exploring Melbourne’s cafes.
